Description: Postcard of the York family home in Indianapolis sent to Mrs. Starry Ryerse of Allenville, Michigan in November 1909. The photo is taken from across Central Avenue and shows the full front view of the house and a tree in front. To the left, in the back, washing is visible hanging on a back line.Text on the back reads, The lady who lives at that number on the other side of this card would like to hear from you. I didnt know the house was going to have its pickture taken or I should have taken the washing off the line. I hope you are all well, and that you will find time to write. Your friend, Mrs. York.According to city directories and available public records, this was the home of Gertrude (McCammon) York (1877-1964) and Charles C. York (1867-1950), along with their sons Ralph, Carl, and Joe, from around 1905 until Mr. Yorks death in 1950.
