Stereoview of the the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. The Greek Revival style structure was designed by architects Town and Davis and completed in 1835. The design, featuring a dome and columns, was inspired by the Greek Parthenon. Its entrances faced north and south (West Washington Street). The blue limestone structure was in disrepair by the late 1860s and was demolished in 1877 and 1878. The yellow stereoview mount is printed on the front: Published by Salter & Judd, Mezzotint Photographers / Indiana Exposition, 1873 / 45 East Washington St., Indianapolis. It is handnumbered 22. |
