Description: Carl L. Lake and Roger Hinkle pose behind a candy display in Hinkles Cafe, formerly Lollar Drug Store, in Saratoga, Indiana, circa 1975.Roger Hinkle and his wife June operated Hinkles Cafe and Party House at 211 E. Main Street in Saratoga, Randolph County. The building was constructed in the early 1890s for Lollars Drug Store, which operated until 1953, and the restaurant filled the old store shelves with candy including Sixlets, Reeses Pieces and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Play Ball and Bubs Daddy bubblegum, Jawbreakers, Atomic Fire Balls, and Smarties. The Hinkles, who had living quarters behind the cafe, retired by 1989.
