There was a channel that ran from the intersection of the two railroad lines to the body of water known as Winona Lake. At one time small steam powered boats transported passengers through the channel. The coming of the trolley system diminished the need for the boats and for the channel. The north end of it shrunk by several blocks. The channel still exists and terminates at Smith Street in Warsaw
