The tour around Winona Lake on the Winona Queen was, as one would expect, usually narrated. Most of the information was probably correct, but college students working for the summer like to embellish and fabricate. For example, Ted Williams, the publisher of the local newspaper, had a home along the west shore of Winona Lake. One summer the guide told the guests that Ted Williams, the famous baseball player, lived along the lake. The Winona Queen was locally built (details unknown). It was of mostly made of wood. It had a flat bottom and two decks. It was powered by a Ford flathead V-8 engine with the power transfered via a drive shaft to a Ford automobile rear end attached to a paddle wheel. It was used for over twenty years and took tens of thousands of passengers on a tour around the lake.
