Flags on the balcony of Clowes Memorial Hall

Description: Designed by architects Evans Woollen III and John M. Johansen, construction of Clowes Memorial Hall began on August 15, 1960, and it officially opened on October 18, 1963. At the time of construction, the building was unique since it was designed to host a variety of events including orchestra concerts, ballets, operas, lectures, and University events. Constructed of concrete and Indiana limestone, portions of the building are 90 feet high and the building is approximately 83,444 square-feet. Six flags on flagpoles decorate the balcony over the front entrance and flowerpots full of flowers sit on the sidewalk, on either side of the doors. A portion of Lilly Hall is visible to the left of Clowes Hall.
