Description: |
Work is underway on a sidewalk on the south side of Lilly Hall as part of the construction of an addition to the building. The extra space included two dance studios, a percussion room, an electronic music lab, a theater, choral rooms, four rehearsal rooms, and offices for Butler University based arts organizations including the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, the Indianapolis Childrens Choir, Dance Kaleidoscope, the American Pianist Association, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. These organizations helped to fund the addition in exchange for the use of space in Lilly Hall. In fact, the Indianapolis Childrens Choir raised $1 million towards the building costs and other funds came from the Lilly Endowment for the Arts. The addition, which opened in 2003, was designed by the architectural firm of Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf and the contractors were Shiel Sexton Company, Inc. |
