Description: |
The large section of windows by the stairs, on the left side of Atherton Union, is the exterior of the Reilly Room, a gathering space made possible in part by a $750,000 gift from Reilly Industries. Part of the gift went towards construction costs, while the rest of the money went towards the financing of chemistry scholarships. This space was part of a 24,000 square-foot addition at the southern end of the building, designed by Architect Jonathan Hess of Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf, Inc. The grand opening for the addition was held on Friday, August 27, 1993. Atherton Union is carved in the arch over the doorway on the right side of the building. Cars are parked along Hampton Drive and in a parking lot to the left of the building, separating it from Schwitzer Hall. |
