Construction work in Jordan Hall

Description: Construction work is underway in Jordan Hall. This photograph possibly shows work being completed in the basement of the east wing, which was the first step in a series of renovations in the mid-1980s. During this part of the project, which was completed in 1984, the basement floor was lowered two and a half feet and false ceilings were installed, creating nine foot ceilings in the previously underutilized space. A. B. Cochran & Son was the firm hired to complete the work and the space became the new home of Butler Universitys Development Division, which included the Public Relations and Alumni Offices. This helped to free up space in the rest of Jordan Hall for subsequent renovations.
