Illness and injury cost the Univees the services of a few keyplayers earlier in the year, accounting for theteam’s slow start. But later in the campaign, with the full team intact, the Univees showedsigns of greatness upon occasion.Bonsett could call upon only four lettermenat the outset of the season, but inherited anoutstanding group of performers from lastyear’s fine reserve team. After the first sixgames, the team molded into a highly efficientunit. The hoopsters started off on the rightfoot, drubbing Worthington, 68-31. But defending Regional champion Ellettsville and perennially strong Terre Haute State handed theUnivees defeats in their next starts. Universityslipped past Spencer, but bowed to Waldronand Bloomfield before getting its next victory,a close 45-42 decision over Shawswick.
