Occupied Winter Months;January will probably be most remembered because we missed one day of school as a result ofthe snow. Finals also played a large part in theactivities of the month as students spent a hecticlast few minutes cramming before the bell. TheFrench Listening Comprehension tests were administered, and all any one could get out of anyof the participants was “Bonjour, mon ami. Comment allez-vous?” Senior announcements were chosen, and the remnants of the Senior ’64 sign paintedabove the school during Homecoming were still tobe seen as the sandblasting had the curious effectof turning black paint to white.February was another bust month as both students and teachers tried to cram 31 days of workinto 29 days. Cast and crews for “The PajamaGame” were announced, and everyone wonderedhow Miss Stoops would ever accomplish it. Itwas a month for recognition and awards as JohnGaiser was recognized as a finalist in the Westinghouse Talent Search; Sherrie Lindsey, Sheila Bemis,“But, Miss Stoops, it’s 11:30!”CLinda Jean, Pat Bradbeck, Amy Suer, Linda Stevens, Jim Schwartz, Nancy May, Don Adam, MikeElam, and Robin Bridwell won Gold Keys andBlue Ribbons in the Regional Scholastic ArtAwards; and Dr. Beggs and Dr. Buffie collaboratedon a book entitled Team Teaching—Bold New Venture. U-schoolers were entertained and surprised atthe degree of talent exhibited as Verity, the school’sliterary magazine, was sold to the student body. The Beatles hit U-school as they did everywhereelse, and Linda Miller won national publicity bydesigning a Beatle cookie, while Mr. Pettijohn expounded Beatlemania fervently. The BHS gamehad everyone’s hopes up high, but the Univees almost, but not quite, won.“Let’s see, 2 cokes. 3 oranges, ... and 1 strong coffee.”lists Miss Nancy Stoops, the play director, at rehearsal. This is our Westinghouse Science winner?
