It Wasn’t Easy . . . Conception,In 1961, the Indiana State Legislature passed abill “for the construction of the University HighSchool of Bloomington, Indiana, to be located onthe Bloomington Bypass just southeast of thatcity.” It was to be an Indiana University operatedproject at a cost of not less than five million dollars, a beautiful building, one-story, and built witha capacity for 2,000 students. Ever since the passageof that bill, almost all lunchtime discussions hingedaround the new building and its occupancy. Thejuniors and seniors asked themselves if they wouldgraduate as the last class from the old school orthe first from the new one.The first signs of construction appear on the scene in thespring of 1963.“What do you mean it went to Bloomington, Illinois?”Dr. Oestreich has his problems, too.; W 1.. tI IIirIDig down to go up!
