Description:	Forty member choir entertains at convocationsContests and concerts kept band and orchestra members busy all year. Orchestra membersreceiving first division ratings in the RegionalMusic Contests were Martin Bidney, AmyHazelrigg, Jan Murray, Andy Hazelrigg, KyrilMagg, Danny Rothmuller, Tom Lauer, TadLauer, Brian Martz, and Bob Appelman, whocombined variously to form one quartet, onetrio, a duet, and separated for five solos. Bandmembers receiving firsts’ were Brian Martz,Bob McCoy, George Van Buskirk, Ted Vaughan,and Bob Appelman. The band’s year was highlighted by the arrival of its new black andscarlet uniforms, paid for by a high-poweredcandy sales campaign which left students andfaculty chock full of pecans, carmel, and chocolate. High salesman, with 348 boxes, was eighthgrader Reed Martin, who won a pocket transistorradio for his efforts. At East Hall, the band gaveits first concert for the student body and Mr.Roberts expressed his desire to perform weekly.Band officers were Laird Kirkpatrick, president;Dick Loft, vice-president; Jean Martin, secretary-treasurer. The chorus also gave a concertfor the student body and others at Martinsvilleand Ellettsville. Officers were Meredie Kirkpatrick, president, Bob McCoy, vice-president,and Eleanor Fell, secretary-treasurer. From thechorus, a Triple Trio was formed consisting ofJani Steinbeck, Ginny Winston, Judy Johnson,Jo-Ellen Royer, Merdie Kirkpatrick, Carol Andres, Nancy Irwin, Patti Ross, and Kathy Volkmann. The orchestra played for several concertsas well as for Baccalaureate and Commencement.A dance band sprang up in mid-year and playedvigorously at the GAA-U-Men’s dance, to muchacclaim. Members were Ralph Seifert, Bob Poling, Harlan Neaweddi, Charles Waggoner, DaveEdgerton, Brian Martz, Tom McGlasson, P. T.Buntin, Bob McCoy, Ted Vaughan, DannyRothmuller, Dick Loft and Laird Kirkpatrick.CHORUS — First row: Judy Robertson, Norma Smith, Pat Ber-gan, Barb Bailey, Suan Hooten, Martha May, Sue Waltz, Janice Toole, Mr. Ralph Wade.
