The work program at University School involvesstudents as well as paid help. Pupils who give uptheir luxurious library periods help teachers and staffin the elementary and general offices. These helperscollect absence slips, answer telephones, and deliverfateful passes. In the health office, a junior nurseis always at your service to give minor first aid.Junior nurses also keep health office records.Food — an important commodity any place, isdoubly valuable to growing boys and girls. For thisreason, meals in the U-School cafeteria are carefullyplanned to tempt all appetites and fill those, “yawningcavities.” The cooks also prepare special dinners forschool sponsored banquets. Variety, quality, andquantity make the UHS cafeteria a good place to eat.Secretaries, JanitorsTaking care of janitorial jobs aroundUniversity School this year were Mrs. LilyBorriff, Mrs. Bernice McMillian, CharlesRichardson, Joe Chamber, and Doris Rowe.The neat, attractive appearanceof our school is due to the work ofthe custodians. Scrubbing windowpanes, mopping floors, sweepingthe halls — all make up the workof the University School janitorialstaff. When lights burn out, window shades refuse to move, thesewilling workers give their adviceand aid.
