The team endedthe season with a 10-1-1 record and showed fineform in the Sectional and State Wrestling Meets.The Univees were coached this year by PhilThrasher, a graduate of Bloomington High School.The wrestlers opened the season with a sounding47-5 victory over Indianapolis Washington. Thenthe U-School team won verdicts over KentuckySchool for the Blind, and Indianapolis before theyfell to Decatur Central. The only other team thatimpaired the U-School record was Indianapolis BenDavis, who tied the Univees.The cross country team found itself in a buildingyear this season. The Univees did not finish witha winning record, but much was gained throughexperience.All three of the lettermen, John Stempel, PatHoadley, and Norman Deckard, will return nextyear and give the Univees a good chance in thefuture.
