Description: IOtto Hughes, principal, talks with David Maish, oneof the new history teachers, on the subject of U-School’sextracurricular program. Mr. Maish co-sponsors theFreshman Hi-Tri-Y Club.Relaxation andThe noon hour at University School is a verybusy time. After eating lunch in the school cafeteria — or at one of the establishments nearschool — or at home — students can enjoy a number of activities.The Student Council provides a recreationroom in the basement where students can danceto the music of a juke box, play table tennis,checkers, or cards. A snack bar serves soft drinksand candy to help finance the Student Councilactivities.Many students spend part of their noon hourin the gym. Volleyball, basketball, and variousother sports are available to students of all agesunder the supervision of the physical educationdepartment.The lunch line is of course a familiar sight to everyU-Schooler. Here, students get the dessert which ispart of the well-balanced meal the cafeteria serves for$.30.The always-crowded recreation room is just as popular with junior high students as with the high school.
