Description: |
— awhile especially in arithmetic. Catherine Youngs a former classmate, was kind enough to let me copy my problems from her. By doing this Iwas finally able to enter junior high school. Nothing much happened inmy seventh year until Bonnie Wilber came. I followed her around as ifshe were something out of this world. She had such a disposition thatI can t explain. I tried to be like her in several ways, but the more I’dtry to imitate her the more she disliked me. So I tried to forget her.Mrs. Richardson, my physical education instructor and history teacher, had us to do stunts. I had great difficulty in doing these variousthings. Bonnie got ahead of me; she could balance and such stuff, butbig awkward me--I could do nothing but stand and watch. I couldn’t dothat very well. I finally got even with her in history; in fact I got aheadof her. One month I got a big fat D. Bonnie, a B. Well B’s for bad andD’s for dandy.I was elected ioke editor of the Arrowhead, our School paper. Thisis really the first class activity I ever excelled in. I did my job well, and everyone complimented me on my corny jokes. Not knowing themeaning of the word, I didn’t know that I was being insulted. When time came to choose the Graphic staff, I was selected snapshot editor. I was accustomed to being left out of class activities soI didn’t know how to feel or act.Commencement time came at last, but I wasn t happy. In aboutthe last two months of school I became a popular and prominent leaderof our class. Then I had to give all this up. So I end the formative4years of my life being just as I started-selfish. |
