Description: 1 —CLASS PROPHECYWhere was I, what had happened to me, were some of the confused thoughts that wentthrough my mind. I opened my eyes. Everything was blurred, but I could see someone inwhite move toward me. She called me by name, yes, it was Mary Margaret. She told meI had a wreck with my car. I would probably be released within a few days. The doctortold me I must take a vacation for two weeks.My car was fixed by this time. I left the glaring lights of New York behind me andturned my car toward my Indiana home. Just outside of Indianapolis I pulled in at aservice station. Who should come out and step into a big Hudson convertible, but KennethClouse. He informed me that he was now president of the Bridgeport Brass Company inIndianapolis. Bonnie Sater is his secretary.I pulled in at the Hill Top Cafe. June Reynolds was now the owner. Hill Top hadbeen completely remodeled. June had a dance floor put in, because she still has her lovefor dancing.I turned on my radio. Joy Kale was announcing on a Womans Day Program overWDOB. Bill had used his own initials when naming his radio station. The program wasbeing sponsored by the Allen Taylor Hotel.I learned from Vernon Hughes who was owner of the Hughes Insurance Company thatLeona Young was running a fur shop on Kirkwood Avenue. I went to the shop to see Leona.While I was there Norma Mundy came in and purchased an elaborate mink coat. Herhusband is the owner of a group of chain stores.While shopping at Ayres, I learned that Bill Taylor was assistant manager. I lookedhim up at once. We talked in his beautifully furnished office for only a few minutes. Afterleaving the store I came upon Virginia, who married a wealthy broker and is now living onFifth Avenue. Her husband was moving his business to New York. She promised to lookme up after they arrived.I learned that Mr. and Mrs. Dan Jacobs and daughter were vacationing in Florida. Iplanned to see them after they reached home the next evening. They had been visiting withMr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stewart. Lloyd is now running an orange plantation.While stopping in at the drug store I came upon Richard Nicholson who owns a MensClothing Store on Madison Street.I decided to give a dinner for all my classmates the next evening. I went to themarket. Gene Acuff was now president of the chain of Taylor Grocery Stores.I called Mr. and Mrs. Pogue from my hotel room. They accepted my invitation. Mr.Pogue is now a General in the U. S. Army.My two weeks were a happy vacation. I will have lots of things to think about when Igo back to my hot, stuffy office in New York. I only hope all of my classmates are ashappy as I am. Yes, life has been very good to each one of The Class of 49.Mabel Huffman^18
