Description: CI ass HistoryWhen we were in our first three years of school we had three very fine teachers. They were Mrs.Bales, Miss Miller, and Mrs. Worman. When reaching our fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, we hadMr. Childers, Mr. Dillon, and Mrs. May.Our seventh year we had the pleasure of picking^ our first sponsor, who was Mrs. Brady. The nextyear we found ourselves as eighth graders. That year we picked Mr. Thompson as our sponsor. Westarted high school with twenty-six pupils in our class. They were as follows: Charles Clouse,Rufford Gadd, Phyllis Taylor, Betty Ellett, Jim Arnett, Don Day, Eddie Lawrence, Travis Taylor, DonArthur, Lloyd Wampler, Janet Hite, Nancy Cramer, Paul Hovious, Lavonne VanDeventer, VioletHalstead, Keith Nicholson, Bob Pruett, Barbara Nicholson, Carol Barr, Kay Bowman, Anna Goble,Defaun Stanger, Ralph Fulford, Ross Kale, Gary Stewart, and Don Cowden.We sold popcorn to make money for our class. That gave us a good start with money.Our Sophomore year found us choosing Mr. Thompson as our sponsor again. During the year we hadseven members drop out of the class. That year we sold candy during the noon hour.Our Junior year we chose Miss Denny as our sponsor. This was a very nice year with manyactivities such as Junior Carnival, which was a great success. Our first class party we went to Mr.and Mrs. Rolla Hites to have lunch and later in the evening, went to the annual Ice Review. Ourlast class party we went to Clifty Falls State Park and also to Madison and over the river intoKentucky. We all enjoyed that very much and incidently, this trip gave most of us our first glimpseof the Ohio River. Our Junior play, Pecks Bad Boy, turned out to be a big success. Everyoneenjoyed watching the antics of Henry, who was the bad boy in form of Travis Taylor. The annualJunior-Senior Reception was held May 10, 1952 at Boxmans Cafe.Then, came the mighty important year. We entered our Senior year with eighteen members.They were as follows: Phyllis Taylor, Lavonne VanDeventer, Betty Ellett, Violet Halstead,Janet Hite, Kay Bowman, Carol Barr, Travis Taylor, Bob Pruett, Gary Stewart, Ernest Pursell,Ralph Fulford, Eddie Lawrence, Don Arthur, Lloyd Wampler, Charles Clouse, Rufford Gadd, andRoss Kale who withdrew at the end of the second semester.We chose Mr. Riddle as our sponsor in this eventful year. The class was buzzing at all timesplanning our various activities. Our first class party was a professional basketball game atMartinsville. The next party was at Christmas time at the home of Betty Ellett. There were alot of things to work on our last year of school. We gave our play, Shoot the Works, attendedthe Junior-Senior Reception, went on our Senior trip, Baccalaureate, and then came the bigday—Commencement!Lavonne Van DeventerThis page is sponsored by R.
