He hired as his secretary Blundering Billy who fell inlove with Dorothy. Billy told one lie after another to get out of something and only got in deeper.This was the first play of the season to be given in the High School gymnasium and proved a successful evening of entertainment for the public and also added to the Junior banking account.SENIOR CHILI SUPPERRecalling the success of last years chili supper, the Seniors decided to repeat this year with another in order to increase the cash in their treasury. It is now an established fact that the Seniors cansurely make good chili as there was a large patronage again this year.SENIOR ENGLSH CLASS PLAYSThe Senior English Class presented four one-act plays on March 22. The plays were all of ahumorous nature. In A Thriving Business Marion Welch proved to be the mysterious Slippy orbank robber. Esther Knight as Bessie in Open for Inspection showed us how to get rid of in-laws.Harriet Curry looked almost as much like a hunk of cheese as the real Swedish maid in the comedy,My Cousin from Sweden. Things seemed rather rough on Bob Hines in the farce, Rather Roughon Robert. These plays were directed by Miss Gwaltney, our English teacher.SURPRISE GIFTSTwo Senior class meetings of the year assumed the part of the presentation of gifts. The first wasjust before Christmas vacation when they preseneed their sponsor, Carl Smith, with a pair of pajamas.On the second occasion Violet Jeanne Brown was made the recipient of a rolling pin upon annoucementof her marriage.VALENTINE PARTYThe seventh grade held a Valentine party Feb. 14. Games and contests were enjoyed in thegymnasium. Refreshments of fruit salad and heart-shaped cakes were served in the home economicsroom where all were seated around card tables. A Valentine box offered friendly sentiments for everyone. A color scheme of red and white was used in the decorations.JUNIOR CHRISTMAS PARTYThe Junior classs Christmas party was in the form of a rabbit fry. The boys went hunting andbrought back five rabbits which were deliciously prepared by the committee in charge. After the mealthe class exchanged gifts and presented Mr. Weathers, the sponsor, with a pair of kid gloves.Page Twenty-nine |
