How did it feel to bestarting quarterbackas a sophomore?Being told that I wasgoing to be the starterwas one of the bestfeelings I have ever had.All of the hard work I hadput in would finally payoff. I knew I would havebig shoes to fill afterGrant Pedersen had areally good season lastyear. I knew I had to stepup my game to try andcome close to doing whathe did. I had a lot to learnin very little time. Therewere many changes that Ihad to face like the speedof the game. This was alearning year for me.Expect to see bigger andgreater things from me inthese next two years.- Sophomore Nic BrownHow was it having somany young playerson the team?It was an interestingchallange that broughtthe team together as awhole.-Senior Derek DriverSTANG STRONGTHROUGH INJURYNumber 15 Dillon Deckardstarted his summer off likeany other player on theteam with early morningconditioning. Deckard has aheart condition calledsupraventricular tachycardia. This conditionoccurs above the ventricular tissue andcauses your heart rhythm to beat unusuallyr fast. Due to his heart condition, he wasntcleared for contact and also had to wear aheart monitor clipped onto his pants duringj practice. Towards the end of the summer, his heart monitor began to show signs ofj distress. He was then told to stop workingout. A week before the game against BrownCounty, Deckard had to have his first out oftwo surgeries. The first surgery took longer| than planned so they had to operate again.Through all of this, Deckard stuck with histeam. He was there at every practice, andI he even served as an extra coach duringyhe games. |
