iEdgewood finally dropped the hamJhe 11-12 school year, the students had to goIthrough many add-ons and tune-ups due to^construction. A lot of the construction wasconnected to making the school a safer place. The front was intentionally designed becausepi school safety, Principal Mr. Ackerman said.Although the construction helped promoteschool safety, it also caused a few problems alongthe way. During one of the volleyball teamspractices, they were told that the power was goingto be shut off at 3:15, but instead it was shut off at3:00. The lights seemed to always be the biggestobstacle.A guy came through the door at exactly 3 oclockand he said this, *Uh, well, theyre probably going tobe shutting the power off...1 CLINK! And it was insentence tnat the power shut off ...We couldntput the equipment away, it was all in the gym in thedark, Coach Carmichael said. The band couldnt practice inside the school allof the time, but on one occasion they were able topractice in the cafeteria - in the dark and unfinishedcafeteria. The whole time, the construction workerswere trying to put up the lights; so, the band decidedto act like the workers were in their way. It made theworkers nervous and clumsy but it entertained theband. We always made them really nervous. I thinksomeone even broke a big light bulb once, seniorJosefa Mateo said.Even through all the problems, many new andgreat things were added to Edgewood High School. Its exactly how I wanted it to be, Ackermansaid.IN THE POLLS56%The 2012Romneypresidential electionis a hot topic all overthe U.S. so wedecided we should28%Obamaget the opinion ofthe students here atEdgewood HighSchool.
