Description:	Girl VolleyersSeize First SectionalJenny Latimer digs out a tip fromthe opposition.The Lady Mustangs have another sectional banner to putup on the wall. The 1986 volleyball season proved to be themost successful in school history, with the ladies compiling arecord of 21-7. They were 9-1in the WCC, second only toGreencastle, and for the firsttime in 15 years, the volleyersbeat Mooresville.The high point of the seasoncame at sectionals, where theladies whipped North in thefirst match. This won them theright ot play for the championship against BloomingtonSouth, the team which hadbeaten the Mustangs just oneweek before on Senior Night.The ladies got their revengeagainst the Panthers, bytrouncing them 15-9, 15-4.After the victory, hugs andshouts of joy aboundedthroughout the gym. SeniorSherry Dunbar said, I wasexcited and I was relieved too,because we were under a lot ofpressure, being favored to winand because it was our Senioryear. Teacher John Chancesaid, They really played to winand for the time this year, everyone played with intensity atthe same time.The Mustangs went on to theMartinsville Regional, and wontheir first match over Shelby-ville in three games. A strongerVarsity, Row 1: K. Moore, S. Weaver, C. Rambo. Row 2: S. Presson, K. Cooprider. Row 3: L. East, D. Heiner, S. Dunbar, Coach Gates, J. Latimer, M. Moore.and improved Mooresvillesguad pounded the Mustangsin the championship game,ending the Mustangs most successful season ever. CoachGates said of the team, Thisgroup of kids really molded together well. They played as ateam, and had a lot of fun.
