K5Without activities school would be absolutely unbearable! Luckily, there areover twenty-five different clubs atEdgewood to provide students with abreak from the daily grind of school. These extracurricular activities give students a chance to be with their friendsand to have a good time. After seven and a half long, gruelinghours of school, students need SOMETHING to help them forget such thingsas tests, book reviews, and economics reports due the next day. Clubs offer students a desperately needed diversionfrom school. I think Id go crazy if I hadto do school work all day long! explained senior Kris Small. Many activities like convocations enable students tobe just plain crazy for a few moments.During a pep session for the footballplayoff game, the entire football teamwas practically rolling in the floor withlaughter when their coach, Dick Ran-ard, unexpectedly entered the gymdressed as Darth Vader. David Martin, aco-captain of the football team, mentioned after the pep session, I didntthink that Ranard would do somethingthat comical because he is always so serious. If convocations dont furnish studentswith enough entertainement, then theycan leave the school entirely on one ofthe many trips that the various organizations take. Clubs travel to places as closeas the IU Art Museum and as far awayas the Big Apple. Even though many ofthe trips are educationally oriented, students from Edgewood somehow manage to have a good time.Although there was no activity periodthis year, club membership seems to beat an all time high. New clubs are forming every year, and the old ones are becoming larger than ever before! Truly, clubs are a vital part of EHS. |
