TorattiWheres the race!?!What are you doing??Brad May practices for his ninth victory.Brad Phillips agrees that the Harriers are tough. For the past two years theyve takenfifth and second, but this year it was allthe way! Along with Coach John Foutch, these Mustangs didnt stop at just a victorious record of 6-1 and winning threeinvitationals. They wanted the satisfaction of being #1 and on October 12,1983, they won the WCC. These guysput forth an effort thats unbelievable. The idea of running three miles, plus thesummer training of ten miles daily, tomost people is ludicrous. This sport istough—scorings done by placementwith the lowest score winning. With thiscompetition, it takes a self-disciplinedperson with the desire to excel. CoachFoutch commented, I was very confident of winning. There was a feeling ofaccomplishment, something I knew wewere capable of, succeeding. So remember these special Mustangs andnext time a Harrier is coming, step back, because these guys really know how tostrut.21 |
