Description: Bob Manuszaks Edgewood Mustangscontinued the tradition of excellent football by ending a challenging season witha 7-3 record. Two of the three losseswere against outstanding football teams,Bloomington North and Brazil. TheMustangs were still able to get a piece ofthe W.C.C. title, the schools fourthstraight.Defense, as in the past seasons, wasthe key to Edgewoods success. The Mustangs yielded an average of only 10.1points per game. The defense was anchored by the strong linebacker play ofSenior Roger Carter. Carter was laternamed the teams Most Valuable Defensive Player as well as receiving The MostValuable Player Award. Offensive guardRusty Dutton was named Most ValuableOffensive Player for his outstandingblocking throughout the season. Duttonalso received All-State honorable mention at the guard position.Senior tailback Rick Graebe led theteam in rushing yardage as he carried theball 173 times in gaining 738 yards. Carter, playing fullback on offense, gained313 yards. Senior quarterback KevinStrickler, although missing the last 3games due to a broken collarbone, threwfor 536 yards and 2 touchdowns on 34-98 passes. Dennis Adams was the leading receiver by catching 14 passes for344 yards and 3 touchdowns. Graebe,Strickler, and Junior back Gregg Curry,who gained 248 yards on 40 carries, ledthe team in scoring with 4 touchdownsapiece.1.
