The 1972 Homecoming ProvedVictorious for Many PeopleOctober 13 found Edgewood Students excited and full of spirit for the 1972Homecoming. Spirits were high as everyone waited for the battle to begin againstthe North Putnam Cougars. Each class proved how spirited they were by the uniquefloats they presented at the pre-game parade. The winning float came from the classof 75, while second place went to the German Club VW.The Mustangs found themselves on the road to their first Homecoming victoryas they literally rolled over the Cougars for the 20-14 victory.Also just as exciting were the half time activities which consisted of thecrowning of the Queen, the big band performance and the drawing for a 1972 Maverick. Six candidates and their escorts walked to the middle of the field and waitedfor the Queen to be announced. The 1972 Queen was Rhea Jackson who wascrowned by Mr. McConnell. The Queen and her court were honored through therest of the game and attended the dance following.One Mighty Mustang gains a few more yardstoward another touchdown. Mustangs wonthe game 20-14.The 1972 Homecoming Royalty was RheaJackson Queen, center, and her court. L-R:Roxanne Carmichael, Kim Mangus, Rhea,Sandy Hudson, Jerri Pittman and DebbieKuster.The float winner was the Sophomore class.Mitch Sexton operates the switch to the bigwhite machine. |
