Description: New Area of CurrentEvents Was Developedin Social StudiesHistory was no longer kept in the past and meretextbook facts were not the only subject taught inthe social studies department as current eventsdays were added to the weekly schedule in mostof the classes. Teachers realized that the time tostudy history was while it was being made, as wellas studying the events in the past, affecting lifetoday. In Psychology and Sociology, studentslearned how to get along with people aroundthem as they found out what makes the humanbeing react the way he does in different situations.Experimental situations, such as trying to find outwho a person is by feeling his face while blindfolded were hoped to uproot any prejudices the student may have had and give him a deeper insightinto what goes into making him think the way hedoes.Joel Kordis finds that filling out a Federal income tax return isnt as easy as it appears.Even though social studies is a vital course in school, these two students think otherwise.
