Description: Fall Festival Salutes.U.s SesquicentennialAttracting many high school students Ellettsvillesponsored its 28th Annual Fall Festival, on September 17, 18, and 19, 1970. It celebrated the newMonroe County Public Library and Indiana Universitys Sesquicentennial year. On Thursday night, theKey Club gave an IU salute. Members of the National Honor Society served as pages on Friday afternoon.No man is an island, entire of itself, was thetheme of the festival. Each of the four classes entered a float portraying this theme. First prize wasawarded to the Seniors. The Marching Mustangshosted the parade but were not entered in competition. They opened the program on Saturday eveningby presenting a concert. The Edgewood Singers sanga variety of selections for the program.VITim Bayne tries his best to win the prize in the watermeloneating contest, one of the many activities of the Fall Festival.Many hours of work were put in on all of the floats seen in the parade, although the one made by the Senior class was chosen as the best.12
