Description: Summer Band: Another Year of Fun?Every day for a week in July, 145 band members, majorettes, flag carriers, and pom-pon girlspracticed music and memorized a routine on asimulated football field for as many as ten hoursper day in the summer sun. To prepare for the upcoming State Fair contest in August was the mainobjective.Four whistles and go! Drumsticks were poisedand when the whistles came, the MarchingMustang Band marched across the starting line toperform at the long awaited contest. Early thatmorning, sleepy-eyed but high-spirited band members gathered to board the buses for the journeyto the State Fair Grounds. Upon arriving, Mr. Rowcalled the band together to go over the show forthe last few times before the actual performance.Then it was, Into your uniforms and line up!Fans gathered into the grandstand to encouragethem to do well. Though not as well as hoped for,Edgewood placed 37 out of 70 bands.Drum Major Paul Davis gives assistance to Kevin McClaryduring the last minute inspection.Mr. Row watches nervously as the bandpractices for the last time before performance.
