trip.reise.resa.South students went on a trip toEurope over summer break,The bright lights of the EiffelTower at night. The chilly air ofthe Swiss Alps. A gondola ridethrough the waterways ofVenice. These are just a fewexamples of what Southstudents experienced on their13 day trip to Europe this pastsummer.It took a total of eight hoursto reach their first destination,Frankfurt, Germany, from theIndianapolis Airport. Fromthere, they traveled toMunich, Germany, wherethey rode bikes through theEnglish Gardens and visited aconcentration camp. Thegroup of students then visiteda town in Austria, climbed thePilatus Mountain in Lucerne,Switzerland, went through thecanals of Venice in Italy, andwalked around Paris andVersailles in France as well.Junior Taylor Byrd enjoyedvisiting Switzerland the mostbecause she liked themountains and learningabout their culture.A big part of the trip wastrying new foods from eachplace the students visited.Out of all of the Europeancuisine, Byrd most enjoyedeating bratwursts fromGermany and baguettesfrom France. Junior JordanMonson absolutely relishedeating a dessert crepe witha salted caramel dressingfrom a restaurant in Paris.Looking back on the trip,Monson said nostalgicallythat her favorite memory wasriding a gondola through therivers of Venice, Byrd saidthat her favorite memory ofthe trip was discoveringVenice, but she also lovedwalking around Paris.All in all, the 2017 trip toEurope was a success, withmemories that were made tolast a lifetime.-Nicole BrownIIIA8Quinn Hubbardjunior |
