Description: GRAMMY AWARDSFEB. 12,2017On February 12, 2017, CBSbroadcasted the 59th AnnualGrammy Awards live from theStaples Center in Los Angeles,California. The Grammy Awardsare given out by The RecordingAcademy in recognition ofaccomplishments in the musicindustry. These include Album ofthe Year, Record of the Year, Songof the Year and New Artist, as wellas other awards specific to eachgenre of music. This year, 26million people watched the show,which is about 1 million morepeople than watched in 2016. Bigwinners of the night includeAdele, who won five awards,Chance the Rapper, who wonthree awards, and Beyonce, whowon two awards. Her confidence is amazing,and she inspires me as aperformer.JUNIORHADLEY KNAUSBeyonces performance wasreally great because she playedon the fact that shes pregnantwith twins in a classy way. I alsothought it was great of Adele tobreak her Grammy to share withBeyonce because she thoughtshe also deserved it.SENIOR JESSICACARMICHAELI. Sophomore Carson Conrad, junior Emily Doehla,sophomore Afua Dakwa, and sophomore ColinPrince have fun dancing at Bloomington Southsannual retro dance. Every year the retro dance is aschool favorite in which students emmulate theclothing typically worn by past generations. It is puton by Bloomington Souths Student Council.Students are asked to locate whatever throwbackgear they can find and wear it to the dance. It is notuncommon for students to spend several hoursdancing to all sorts of music from several differentdecades. Due to the different eras representedduring this dance, the cafeteria becomes a colorfuland lively place for students to embrace music andartists from the past. II. South students attend thedance directly following the boys basketball game.I. About 50 students attend this night in order toembrace a time-warp of socializing, creating retrocostumes, and dancing. Souths Student Council isalso in charge of setting up and running thehomecoming dance; an annual event that occurseach fall.
