Description: r Ihip tosFor South seniors, April 27 was a day toskip school along with any obligation orresponsibility and head to the water.Brunch, kayaking and a bonfire-on aschool day? While the rest of theBloomington High School South studentbody labored through first period onApril 27, the class of 2015 slept in,enjoyed leisurely breakfasts, and madeplans to spend the day in the sunshine.Senior Kara Rogers tookadvantage of her time and started herday off with some chocolate chippancakes and home fries from VillageDeli. After breakfast, Rogers headed toLake Griffey to kayak. I went out on myboat and just paddled around to relax,Rogers said.Rogers was not the only senior tospend her skip day on the water. Onthe other side of town, AbrahamMitchell, John Jager, BenjaminDawson, Coleman Hawkins, EvanBruce, Samuel Karcher, Levi Stull,Griffin Schermer and NicholasElliott fished, hiked and playedlacrosse at Moores Creek. We got onLevis boat and found a good spot toset up camp, Bruce said.The boys remained on the creekand roasted hot dogs over theircampfire. [They] ended up tastingbomb, Elliott said. The night came toan end with the friends sitting aroundthe campfire reminiscing about theirpast four years. Being with all myfriends and making the best of ourremaining senior year will be some ofmy best memories, Hawkins said.Other members of the seniorclass spent their days outdoors, pickingup an extra shift at work, or binge-watching Netflix. Despite the varyingactivities, the students had one incommon: exercising their right to skipschool and get away with it.- JAYLA LEVERENZ156 STUDENT LIFEA DAYThe Bloomington Boys and Girls Club hosted the 30th annual Strawberry Festival atthe downtown Courthouse on May 7. South students were certain not to miss thefamous shortcakes and local booths.TrScjuniMy favorite part was seeing the community cometogether to raise money for the local Boys and-senior Margaret HopkinsGirls Club.99
