Description: The Lady Panthers softballteam hit the road duringfinals week to play in theirsectionals tournament. On Monday May 20th, while Southstudents back home were sittingdown to study before finals, Southsvarsity softball team was making thelong, 61 minute drive to EastCentral High School in Saint LeonIndiana, a trip they were eager andwilling to take in order to play theirfirst sectional game against theColumbus North Bulldogs. However, the long trip and thesectional game did not keep theLady Panthers from getting down tothe books later that night, just liketheir peers. After a late start against theBulldogs, with the first pitch notbeing thrown until 8:45 p.m., thePanthers were in for a long night.South jumped ahead to an early 2-0lead, but Columbus North wasntready to go home yet. In the bottomof the seventh inning with two outsagainst them, the Bulldogs put uptwo runs to tie the game. The scoreremained tied at two apiece untilthe tenth inning when South juniorAshlie Egan drove in the winningrun putting South ahead 3-2.After the long, difficult game, the team spent the night in aColumbus hotel together instead ofreturning back home and to schoolthe next day in order to rest up fortheir next game. The girls only got alimited time to relax, however. Muchof their stay was spent studying. The day after the game, we hadstudy tables for about 3 hours, saidjunior outfielder Elizabeth Getz. Itwasnt like it was a day off fromschool, but getting a little extrasleep and more time to relax got ridof a lot of stress so we could focuson the next gameThe Lady Panthers stay inColumbus did the trick, because theteam won the game the next nightwith ease. The team returned homeafter their second win in thesectional tournament, well restedand studied up, ready to compete inthe sectionals championship as wellas take on their final exams.- LOGAN RODGERSkn Sophomore Samuel Karcher exhibits the ideal golf swinjJjJJ during the North versus South golf match at the,5 Bl°omngton Country Club.1. address the ball 2 be9in the back 3. rotate hips
