But with itstamer festivities meant foraudiences of all ages, BloomingtonSouth students, too, could partakein the Bloomington tradition.To celebrate the start of therace, the Indiana Memorial UnionBoard and Live Nation hosted rapduo Macklemore and Ryan Lewisfor the official Little 500 concert onApril 17, which drew Southstudents and other communitymembers in large numbers toAssembly Hall. The availability ofthese popular artists benefitedSouth students that normally shiedaway from the raucous collegeatmosphere of the Little 500.Sophomore William Boatman,who attended the Little 500concerts both years prior to seeSnoop Dog and Mac Miller, wasblown away by the Macklemoreconcert. The Macklemore concertwas swagged out beyondcomprehension, said Boatman.Macklemore gained evenmore credit with the community bywearing an IU basketball jerseywhile performing. Senior EmmaChafin later discovered a pictureof Seattle-born Macklemorewearing a Seattle jersey at hisconcert at Purdue University,gaining yet more points with diehard IU fans. Im glad he chosethe better school colors anddecided to bring out his innerHoosier, said freshman AaronKeselich.The Little 500 concert helpedto widen the appeal of theweekends festivities forBloomington South students.
