Fouryears of high school soon behind themand impending decisions still needingto be made about their future, seniorsscrambled to meet college applicationdeadlines. Some students finished asearly as August, while others werethrown into panic as the deadlinesgrew nearer and they had yet to apply.Senior Conor Galvin applied to10 colleges in September. As amember of the South wrestling team,Galvin knew that he would not havetime to do applications when theJanuary 1 deadline rolled around.Galvin chose to apply early decision toPrinceton University, due November 1,but he was deferred, leaving himthankful that he had finished welltahead of time. When applying, he had to fill outmhe arduous Common Application,Swagger. Carelessness.Aloofness. Whatever it was,Captain Obvious had it. Strollinginto a classroom, he dropped hisbackpack to the ground with athump as if to say, Hey, teacher, look at me, I have a backpackand dont care. Clearly, following school rules was not ofimportance. I dont have time tostop at my locker betweenclasses, explained junior StefanDalecki.Despite the heightened backpack security at South, threedifferent categories of backpack carriers still remain.Backpack slid slyly under thedesk, eyes focused steadily onthe desktop, the ninja attemptedto avoid being caught with hercarry-all in class. While she knewI it was against school rules tobring her backpack in, theadvantages of toting her packaround was too good to pass up.Its convenient because I haveall my books in it already, saidsenior Emily Wagner.fiW A JMI«rJ£
