The Bloomington South girlsbasketball team finished with a 19-5 record and accomplished a biggoal by winning sectionals.Although they won sectionals lastyear, it was no easy task to repeatthe success,On the road to their eventualvictory at sectionals, South had togo through some tough teams thathad beat them during the regularseason. The teammatesmaintained a close relationshipwith one another by bonding onbus rides and hanging out in theirspare time, People hang out offthe court...which helps us stayclose because we understandeach other, senior Jenna Walterssaid. As a senior, Walters had theresponsibility of guiding theother girls through a difficultseason. Her instruction payed offand South was able to advance insectionals.The last obstacle standing intheir way of sectional success wasBloomington North, to whom theyhad lost in a regular season game.Despite the loss during theregular season, South won thesecond time they played North.It was great to beat them when itcounted; it was awesome to cutdown the net at North, seniorMorgan Woodruff said.Senior Elizabeth Weiler added,I got to cut down a big piece ofnet, [it] felt awesome because webeat North at home.The team found a way to notonly beat their rival, but becomesectional champions as well.Although the season waschallenging for the team, theypulled through in the end andwere rewarded for their hardwork with a successful end to theseason.
