Description: seeing doubletwins twined togetherFrom classes to extracurriculars, South twins are bound to one another,High school was a time to findyour identity. Everyone was tryingto figure out who they were goingto be in the future. People were allunique, each one with their ownpersonal style and attitude. However, being an individual wasnot that simple for everyone, especially when they went toschool with someone who lookedjust like them and shared theirschedule: their twin. For convenience, parents oftwins would sometimes ask fortheir kids to be put in the sameclasses, Ms. Lisa Rodgers, motherof Bloomington South freshmenJulia and Logan Rodgers, hadasked that her kids be in the sameclass. Logan and Julia had nearlyall their classes together. It is really convenient havingthem in the same classes, but Idont think I would want them inthe same class if they were thesame gender because I think theywould get really competitive, saidMs. Rodgers,Ms. Leigh Arm Walls, anEnglish teacher at South, agreedwith Ms. Rodgers. Ms. Walls saidthat although having twins in thesame classes could beconvenient, there is thedisadvantage of competitionbetween twins. She said althoughtwins in different classes stilloften competed, putting them inthe same classes could make thisworse. Both Julia and Logan said thatthey didnt really mind being inthe same classes, but Julia felt thatsometimes it was weird spendingso much time with Logan.Sometimes I would like to have amore individual life at schoolseparate from my brother butmost of the time I just dont noticehow much I see him each day.Despite the disadvantages, some twins loved having classestogether. Emile and ShannonBrandon, both sophomores atSouth, said that they loved beingin Ms. Walls class together. Theysaid they were always having funin that class and getting in trouble.Clearly, the situation wasdifferent for every set of twins.According to South guidancecounselor Mr. Roger Perry, sometwins did better in classestogether, but for others it wasbetter to let them grow asindividuals. Its hard togeneralize, said Mr. Perry.Everyone is different and has aunique set of circumstances. For some twins, havingclasses together was fun andconvenient, but for others it wasless of an opportunity and more ofan obstacle.- ROSE JOHNSON•a;vsuidatfct
