Description: into the wildStudents learn how to appreciate nature whilecamping and hanging out with Backpacking Club.Backpacking Club was for peoplewho loved being outdoors andsurrounded by nature. Studentswent on the trips to meet newpeople and relax in a naturalenvironment. I love beingoutdoors and being in differentplaces. I especially love hiking,freshman Stuart Carney said. Theclub members would takeweekends and go hiking, sleep intents and cook their own meals,On trips we hike, cook, explore,tell stories and have a blast,sophomore Sarah Spencer said.They would generally go tostate or national parks, such as theHoosier National Forest, to hangout and enjoy being outside. Oncein the forest, the backpackers gotto choose what they wanted to do.Some would relax by the fire or goexploring, while others wentswimming, They just let us chilland hang out, freshman ConnerHagan said.We would get there aroundnoon, hike for a few hours, go tothe campsites and just hang out,We got up pretty early and hikeda few miles back in the pouringrain, freshman Conor Galvin saidof one of the trips. It rained mostof the night we were there. It wasfreezing, said freshman LaurenKirk.Everything was an importantresource while out in the woods.The backpackers learned how tobuild everything they needed outin nature. I learned that with theright tools you can make acheesecake out in the woods. Itspretty ridiculous, freshman KateSeader said.Carney enjoyed the entirecamping experience and wasglad to have Backpacking Club tocamp with other BloomingtonSouth students. Sometimes I justlove to camp and relax, campingis good for getting your thoughtstogether and meeting a lot ofinteresting people,-JESSE SMITHIMM
