Description: Young Team, Big AdvantageThe girls basketball team recognized that it is not the age of theplayer that matters, but the chemistry of the team.Though the road to sectionals for thisyears varsity girls basketball team washard on everyone, as sophomoreAllyson Nicholson described it.However, the hard work and extensivedays of being sore from intense practices were well worth it at the end ofthe season. When the girls won their sectionalgame, junior Rebecca Kish said thefeeling was indescribable and overwhelming. It was just such an energyrush, she said. However, the varsity team was knownfor more than their victory at sectionals, and their big win wasnt the only thingthat stuck out in their minds. The other highlight of their seasonwas their notably young team. Theteam consisted of only one senior,Madison Turner, who was knownby teammates sophomore Kelsee En-nis, sophomore Kaila Hulls, and junior Jessica Parker as a confidentplayer and leader who knew what shewas doing. The rest of the team wasmade up of a group of talented sophomores and juniors.Hulls saw the overall young team asan advantage. We will all be togetherfor longer as a team, and since ourteam chemistry is good, it brings us allcloser together, she said.Parker agreed, stating how havinga younger team made them more confident since they knew each other sowell and knew how each team memberplayed.Though many people would see theyounger team as a disadvantage, Kishsaid they didnt notice it at all. Werea close team and we just think of eachother as teammates, and thats whatmatters. -KAITLYNNE SILVERSFar right: Sophomore KailaHulls prepares to pass theball to Sophomore KelseeEnnis.
