Holahan was influenced to start running byhis neighbor and the formerJackson Creek Middle Schoolcross country coach Mr. DanielKennedy. It started out kindof hard. I was good but didntlike it; it grows on you, Holahan explained.As a senior six years later,Holahan won five races and theConference Indiana tide. Hesaid he felt most accomplishedwhen he won the Conference tide, Itssomething special to win conference.During the season, Holahan workedhard to meet his goals. The team practiced Monday through Saturday, andhe did cross training on his own.While Holahan worked hard to reachhis personal goals, he was very awareof the importance of his team. He triednot to get caught up in his individualwins and focus more on the improvement of the team. Holahanexplained, The atmosphere isreally calm, we clear our mindsand envision the race.When he did win, Holahantried to look past it. Im moreconcerned about my team. Awin in a big race is a big deal,but I try not to make it one,he said.His achievements and lovefor cross country had set him upfor an exciting future. Holahanhad given a verbal commitmentto Indiana University and planned tosign in the spring.
