Please excuse your Hoosier Hillsstudents to report to their buses. For most students, this was as far as their knowledge extended ofHoosier Hills last year. In fact, Hoosier Hills was much more than an announcement releasing studentsfrom Bloomington South. To some students Hoosier Hills was a head start on their careers.Everyday a group of students from South headed off to the North side of Bloomington along withother students from all over Monroe County. Attached to Bloomington High School Norths building, theHoosier Hills facility was a place where students either attended their classes from first to third period orfrom third to fifth period, according to their schedule. The students who participated in Hoosier Hills were students who had specific career ambitionsand were taking their electives to the next level. Senior Evan Brown was one of these students. Brownsplans included attending New England Culinary Arts School in Vermont, and learning some key skills thatwould help him in the fall as a college student. There are all kinds of options when it comes to the different courses that are available at HoosierHills. Junior Marissa Smith joined Hoosier Hills for its nursing class. We learn all kinds of things like howto take blood pressures, about different body systems, and even how to make beds, Smith explained. Many students enjoyed the smaller classes and being able to learn on a more personal level. Ihave 14 people in my class, Smith said, comparing her classes at Hoosier Hills to Souths. My favoritepart about it [Hoosier Hills] is getting to know my teachers better, said junior James Richardson who wastaking a computer technology class. For these students, Hoosier Hills was a great opportunity to learn the skills that will help themdown the road to success. Their teachers were professionals with experience that were willing to lend theirknowledge with students that were eager to jumpstart their careers in a different and positive way.for^^jfit Academics
