Having the [dance and step] program meant alot to me as a senior because I wanted to showthat the club was committed to what we do,said senior Tiawanlyn Gongloe. The studentsdoing the step dancing devoted themselves topracticing their routine.Everyone tries to communicate outside of theclub, and we try to make it comfortable forthe people who only talk at meetings, saidsophomore Audrey Workman. Friendship wasan important part of the club, especially to theseniors.Someones mom was involved in the IU StepProgram, and she integrated it with what BlackCulture Club does, said senior Kristen Millerregarding the dance night. Miller got involved inthe club, and stayed specifically to perform thedance.Sophomore Derriona Anderson sings as part of the Black Culture Monthfestivities. I was so nervous because this was the first time Id eversung in front of the school, but it went very well, she said.Members of the IU chorale sing at the music and dance night that theclub hosted.
