Its prom. Juniors spent months planning forthis event. Every aspect must be in great detail. Everything must be perfect. After voting on the theme, Midnight in Morocco, we drew out scenes, we picked the central colors, and a lot of the details came inlater. It took a lot of work, but in the end, whats most rewarding is seeing the reactions and knowing people liked it, said junior advisory boardpresident Lauren Weatherall.Although the night seemed to come together perfectly, the work leading up to the event took months and months of planning and hardwork. Junior advisory board put on the affair, with the help of their sponsor and South French teacher, Mrs. Beth Smith. Many long nights werespent decorating the Cafeteria and Atrium, where prom was held. Parents of the Junior Advisory Board members also spent countless hoursperfecting all of the activities and events of post prom held at the SportsPlex. Many students enjoyed the white lights, and royal feeling that thetheme added to the dance. The decorations were really nice, said senior Shamara Clark. You felt like you werent really in Bloomington, at South. It was obviouspeople worked hard on it.For many, prom took an entire day to prepare for, not counting the endless hours spent worrying about the attire. For many girls, hairand make-up took up most of Saturday, and, once the ensemble was together, friends and couples took off for dinner at homes and restaurants tocelebrate the occasion. After the dance, groups did everything from sumo wrestling to camping. The day was so much fun, more so than the dance, even. Knowing the night would be amazing just built up a lot of anticipation. When I was getting ready for it all, it hit me that this was my last prom, and I just got really excited, said senior Amber Hawkins.Midway through the dance Anderson and fellow junior Chris McGuire were crowned king and queen, capping off a royal night. While many South students cant wait until May for the big day, this year no one went disappointed with how prom turned out.Senior Josh Rodgers commented, It was glorious, just glorious. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.(far Left) Seniors PhaloPietersen and Nick Bellamybreak dance on the upperlevel.
