But, the team thatformed after try-outs banded together under great leadership and work ethic. [SeniorjDavid Sonneborn and [junior]Trevor McConnell carried us this season, theymade the big plays, senior Kevin Miller said. We had a tough preseason, but they led usthrough it. McConnell commended the six seniors on the team for their desire to win inreturn. [SeniorsJKevin Miller and Adam Tucci were are captains, they always had a greatattitude and set an example. McConnell said.The baseball team suffered hard losses to cross town rival Bloomington North, but thedefeats were easier to swallow after major victories over Jasper and Columbus North.When we beat Jasper early in the seaon it was awesome, junior Griffin Lock said. They were ranked in the state, and we felt really confident about the rest of our seasonafter our win. McConnell has enjoyed the sectionals. Beating Columbus North in the first game of sectionals was huge, because weve nowbeaten them four times in a row, he saidThe team also enjoyed funny moments from their coach, Grier Werner, and fromdifferent games.Every time Coach Werner tells us his old stories, we have a greattime, McConnell said.fitcner junior Dustin Dillard throws a perfect pitch to catchersenior Mike Klein in the game against Bellmont at Winslowfields.
