Description: Clubs planactivitiesfor more funExtracurricular clubs play an important role at Bloomington South.New to South was the Photo Club,sponsored by Mrs. Debbie Horning.The group, which met monthly, discussed photography techniques andlearned how to improve in variousareas of photo journalism.Also in its first year was the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, headed byseniors Nancy Olcott and DaveNicholson. The organization metweekly in the South library for activities such as singing, Bible study, andspecial projects.AFS (American Field Service), in itssecond year at South, had a newsponsor, Miss Ariel Green. TammyStiles, an AFS student from South whowent to France last summer, was president. The club sold products such assoft drinks to earn money for the adultAFS chapter in Bloomington.Senior Eileen Hepfer led this yearsStudent Council as president. Sponsored by Don Beaver, the Councilheld regular meetings and discussedproblems at South. To raise money fora proposed student lounge, Councilmembers planned a winter sports kingcontest.Future Homemakers of Americawas sponsored by Miss Janice Kunzand Mrs. Marilyn Ziegler. FHA members spent time visiting nursing homesand organizing parties. They alsoassisted in the decorating, cooking,and serving for the faculty Bicentennial dinner.LEFT PAGE.
