So we put the magneticantenna on top of the jeep andstarted flipping through the channels. We heard two or three truckers butcouldnt get them to respond. Finally,we found a channel where an olderman was singing in Spanish, playingthe guitar. Neither one of us spokekSpanish outside of what we learned in theSpanish rotation at Batchelor. However, that did not stop us from blurting outevery Spanish word weve ever heard. Hedidnt like it and starting screaming backin Spanish.Thats the last time we triedthat. -- senior Leslie SchafferHeidi Lambert and I went to Cancunfor spring break together. We had alot of fun. Our last night/morning,Heidi and I came in at 7 a.m. with lotsof energy. I was taking out thedishes, laughing at Heidi playing asmall Mexican guitar and singingalong with it. I wasnt looking where Iwas going and I slipped on a Cokeand shattered all the dishes. Afraid ofgetting in trouble we picked them upand put them in a plastic bag andsent it on its way down the elevator.Hopefully, it made it to the kitchen. --junior Charlotta Preeceby Chris CarterJustin BanksThe Big QuestionWhy are seniors paying for Prom?No one wanted to believe it, but it became official whenjunior class president Giff Reed went on the announcementsSeniors would have to pay for the $10 prom tickets. Many-seniors were strongly against paying for prom, and wanted toknow the reason for the change. Its tradition that seniors dont have to pay for prom. Asunderclassmen we always paid, so all the seniors lookedforward to this year, thinking we wouldnt have to pay for it,senior Cassie Miracle said.Reed explained the logic behind the decision. He said,Basically, we (Junior Advisory Board) felt that, in the past, theseniors had taken advantage of the privilege. They were alwayslying and being dishonest about tickets. This made it too hardfor the JAB to predict how much money they were going to endup with. This will give future classes the opportunity to knowhow much money they will receive. In the end it will really helpeveryone. by Chris Carter184 GothicMARCH APRIL |
