Our whole teamworked over the summertogether and pushed me to domy best, junior Jesse Davissaid.Seniors Jon McDonald,Jason Dorais, Josh Lloyd andMatt Reed showed theirexperience and dedication tothe team in many ways duringthe season.We mainly tried to lead byexample. You can always talkand talk, but it is what you dothat gets through to the otherteam members, McDonaldsaid.The Monday after the teamclinched a State berth with athird place finish atSemistate, Coach LarryWilliams shaved off his beardbecause of a bet the playersmade with him earlier in theseason.I thought it was prettyfunny. He hadnt shaved it in15 years, and he had to do itin front of all the teachers ina meeting. He felt shaving itoff was well worth it though,freshman Chris Wright said.Sophomore DanielKonstanski or senior JoshLloyd would lead the team in ashort prayer in order to focusand prepare the runners.It was a tradition theseniors last year did and wecontinued it. It helps us focusso we are not concentrating onanything else but running,Lloyd said.The day before a meet, theteam members would go over toa teammates house for dinneror to watch a movie.The team just wanted to gettogether before a meet to havefun and have unity. I alsoenjoyed the dinners, and eatingwith my teammates,sophomore Jim Schroeder said.The team that gave thePanthers heavy competitionduring the season was BrownCounty. Both teams ran veryclose to each other the entireseason.I just tried to stick with therunners on their team.
