We know it must havebeen hard to be in such an important position ofauthority while being so freakin young but youmanaged it (marvelously), while still being afriend to each and every one of us. We allappreciated the hard work you put forth, thelong hours you put in and your overall dedicationto the staff. You knew deadlines werent asimportant as a quality book (which is a goodthing, judging by our track record) and its goingto show when this book comes out. You alwaysbelieved that we could do this and do this well.We will always remember this year with youand all the memories we made, from the latenights we spent in A122 to the endless stack ofvocab quizzes we graded in TA. Never oncedid we wish that someone else were at thehelm. -CB and JCSS9 Knowing you last year, it was obviousyou were a great sports editor, but I dont thinkany of us had an idea how well you couldhandle a staff and take up the responsibility ofbeing an editor-in-chief. At the beginning of theyear we all knew someone would have to stepforward and be THE leader. You took on thatresponsibility, and managed not only to keepthe staff in line, but be the type of leader stafferswant to do good for. Plus, you helped puttogether some great, (not to mention clean andclassic) division, opening and closing pages. You also helped Pete and Andrew out by puttingtogether more than your share of sportsspreads, which is quite commendable. We willalways remember your love of O-town andNSync, and your excitement when you wouldcome in with a new CD mix. And who canforget your rendition of the Suck It motion (seeprevious page). You were a prime example ofwhat an editor-in-chief is all about, and youshould be very proud of yourself. -CB and JCNJHI7J Being a co-editor in chief as a junior isnormally a difficult task to handle. However, you seemed to handle it with ease. You wereGothic :: 1*Ue*always calm and in control throughout the year, and that had a positive effect on the rest of thestaff. The ideas you came up with for the bookand the pages you designed were creative andinnovative. You definitely have a talent fordesigning spreads. But you also have severalother talents that did not go unnoticed. Yourstory writing was once again perfect, as wasevident in your dress code and new rulesstories. Also, your copy on some of the divisionpages was outstanding. You always seem toknow the right words to say no matter whatyou are writing about. However, your real talentis how nice and sincere you are to everybody. You are one of the most likeable people I haveever met. Claire the Bear, you were the MVPof the staff this year, and I expect the exactsame thing in 2001-2002. -JCWEiifl What can we say? Yearbook would havebeen nothing without you and your spectacularparty organizations, blazing proofing pen andability to make us laugh over everything frommayonnaise to South Dakota. Its true that theclassroom wouldve been a dull place withoutyour wisecracks and random remarks, andyour ability to make working days fun and badmoods turn brighter. You contributed to the staffin more traditional ways as well, like alwaysproviding the needed sports facts or nameinformation, or writing stories that stood out asexamples of what yearbook writing is all about(dishonesty and all your sports stories). Althoughthey drove us nuts, your high standardsencouraged everyone to rise to the challengeand really do their best. All in all, you met thechallenge of co-editorship and provedindispensable. Well miss you! -CB^TffTTffB Well done son. well done. Onceagain, your sports spreads were solid. Youreally know how to capture a teams season intwo pages of pictures and words. We knowthat it was difficult for you to stay focusedsometimes, but you always managed to getthe job done. You were a pleasure to have onthe staff, and we all wish you could come backfor one more year.llflEH Hello Pete. Your transition from theboring world of ads to the exciting and intenseworld of sports was faster than we expected. As you probably know, you have an uncannyability for caption writing. You know exactlyhow to describe what is going on in a pictureand then follow it up with a creative secondsentence. We will always remember yoursarcastic, yet humorous, comments and lovefor a certain fast food restaurant where you geta #1 with cheese only and a pink lemonade.fffflEB Even when you were wailing overMini-Mag, you always managed to light up theroom and make boring workdays cheery andfun. If any of us were ever in a bad mood wecould just look over at your lovely smile andturn our frown upside-down. But besides havingthe best attitude, you were a major part of theaward-winning student life spread. Your croppingwas phenomenal! We hope you can keep upthe good work next year in sports.fMlffiH Theres always someone on staffthat you know youll see later in life famous formaking it big in the world of journalism. Thisyear, that person was you. You have true talentand it shows in the Student Life section (and inall those 1st PLACE AWARDS you got atjournalism camp ; ). Also, I think even Reginawould agree you were a blast to work with. The staff is in good hands next year.irtiiiiEHDiir staff monkey! Its impossible toimagine yearbook class without your roars oflaughter and pleas to include John Keenan (in awig) on your student life spreads. Even if yourideas were occasionally shot down, yourcreativity and innovation made Student Life notjust great, but kick-butt. You truly deservedboth the rookie-of-the-year award and best writer(with your stories in there, I think people mighteven read the book this year!). Were still tryingto think of a way to kidnap you and keep youhere for next year.WiM-tAW Your offbeat sense of humor andupbeat personality really made yearbook morefun. Not only that, but we literally couldnt havedone this book without you. Whether you werepicking up slack in the album section or workingon designing the index after school had gottenout, you showed the type of dedication andwork ethic we wish everyone on staff had. Notto mention, your academics section rocked!Guess that yearbook camp paid off!lEHffiHl We couldnt have done it without youeither. Not only were you a huge help with thealbum section and index after school, but yourattitude and dedication should be an example tostaffers everywhere. Despite battles withcaptions, the academics section turned out greatand sets the standard for future years. Wereglad youll be back next year.iUffB Though we didnt quite know if you wereon staff some days, you still found a way tofinish the tedious yet, important, ads section. Inaddition, you wrote one of the best football storiesever to appear in the Gothic (pg. 84). Keep upthe good work, and keep riding the wave.mmJlfflHey Kim. Whether we called you Kim,Kimmy, Valenta or Megan, you were a blast tohave on staff. You were always in a goodmood and your distinctive laugh was alwaysencouraging to hear. All of the hours you put inat nights and in the summer paid off (see pages120-171). You made us all proud, and we hopethe same effort is there next year.lURlsfll It was difficult at first to accept anorth-sider on our staff, but you provedvaluable. You improved significantly over thecourse of the year and came up with somegood ideas for the album section. You shouldbe proud of how well you adapted to ourstaff, all of the hard work you put in and afantastic album section.fJIIH.liU Well just say that you werealways interesting to have around. While afair share of arguing and yelling took place,we still would not have traded you foranyone. You did a fine job as an activitieseditor, and also chipped in with an occasionalstory or quotes. One more thing, what wasthe name of Mr. Beldings wife?irerairaH It was a pleasant experience forus to have you on the staff this year. Youhandled the pressures of the intimidatingactivities section like a pro, and never oncedid you complain to us about having toomuch work to do (or if you did, you did soquietly). Besides your section, weappreciated all of those stories you wrotethat could be placed without any corrections. Thanks again, and see you next year.iTTTTTni Thanks for all the time and skillyou put into being photo-editor. As you know, this year there are more pictures than ever, and that wouldnt be possible without yourleadership, example and fantastic photocontributions. Lizz has big shoes to fill!l=reHBDijdfi. BW. The improvement youmade this year was inspirational to us editors,as well as the rest of the staff. We couldalways count on you for a good pic, whetherit was of sports, academics or a simpleheadshot. Also, we probably could not havecompleted the division pages without you, seeing as how you have almost all of thepictures on those pages. You will be sorelymissed next year, for both you photos andyour pleasant sense of humor.WffiH When you came in halfway throughthe year, it became clear what had beenmissing up until that point. Lizz! The Gothicjust wouldnt be the Gothic without you andyour pictures. With your artistic eye, youcaptured the people of BHSS in true momentsthat will live forever. The staff is lucky tohave you as photo editor next year.WiffJHIfjl We could always tell whichphotos were yours, because not only didthey perfectly fit whatever the spread needed, but they were always of an almost spookylevel of quality. We wish you hadnt left us,but we understand and appreciate all thetime and talent you put into the book.[TBEHiEfl Thank heaven for Marianne! That pretty much sums up how we felt onceyou joined our staff. It was true that no onecould have told you were a first-yearphotographer, since your pictures werealways high-quality and perfect for what weneeded them for. But your pictures werentall we liked about you. Your caring attitudeand smiling face were a pleasure to have inthe classroom.ffEfl Whether you were debating theologywith Tim or grumbling over Student Lifeshigh demands, you always made theyearbook room more interesting. Thanks foralways coming through and contributing alot of great photos to the book.IBffiTTiT!ffll Thank you so much for givingus all a little bit of breathing room duringsecond semester.
