Itnajc:?e itFirst Period—8:00-8:54•I arrived in Mr. Johnsonsoffice to meet Officer Pirowski.•Mr. Johnson immediatelyradioed to Officer Pirowski tomeet me in the janitors loungeon the first floor.Second Period—9:00-9:59•We checked the parkingpermits in the students lotagainst a list of permits thathad been stolen, lost or fromstudents who had dropped out.I was well aware of a couplepeople who were using otherpeoples permits. Either theirshad been taken away or theyhad never received one, so theyused other peoples permitswho didnt drive to school. Istayed quiet.Third Period—10:05-11:00•Two male students drove upand parked in the FrankSouthern South lot. They gotby Suzanne GeorgKelsy BenckartStationed at the Frank Southern South parking lot, security officer Zach Mathews and VicePrincipal Mike Johnson keep an eye on traffic during lunch.out of the car and started to gointo school. For some reasonthey stopped in the middle ofthe parking lot and went backto their car. They attempted toleave school again, but OfficerPirowski and I stopped them.They said that one of them hadforgotten a book at home andwanted to go get it. Schoolrules say that once you are onschool grounds, you cant leaveunless it is lunch or a specialclass. They went on to thirdperiod. (F.Y.I.—The car neverreturned after lunch)Fourth Period—11:06-12:30•We saw two students sittingon a big rock at Summit Pointea long time after A lunch wasover. We had seen them comeout there at 11:00. OfficerPirowski radioed in to theoffice and asked if they knew ifdeOfficer Pirowski radioed in to the office andasked if they knew if the kids were supposedto be in class or not. We were told that if theycame back on school grounds we were toescort them to Dr. Goodins office.the kids were supposed to bein class or not. We were toldthat if they came back onschool grounds we were toescort them to Dr. Goodinsoffice. After about 15 minutes,they ventured in the parkinglot, and Officer Pirowskiwalked up to them and toldthem that they were to go toDr. Goodins office. Onestudent rebelled and leftgrounds again.•On the way to Subway forlunch, another security guard,Officer Jason Thomas, radioedfor us to come back. We methim back in the students mainparking lot by the girls gym.He informed us that the ownerof a jeep had reported that afterlunch his jeep was covered inpaper cups. Officer Thomaswatched the car and we wentto Subway to eat.Fifth Period—12:35-1:29•Officer Pirowski parked bythe girls gym and ran in to usethe bathroom. He left thewalkie talkie in the car. Theoffice radioed for security andasked about a student. I was inOfficer Pirowskis car alonewith the walkie-talkie andOfficer Thomas was in his carin the Frank Southern Northlot. At that time, I saw thatstudent sneaking through themain parking lot. OfficerThomas answered via hiswalkie-talkie, saying that hedidnt know anything andasked Officer Pirowski if heknew anything about him. Ididnt answer the walkie-talkieand watched the student driveout of the parking lot.Sixth Period—1:35-2:30•Due to the number ofstudents that have arrangedsixth periods or classes thatallow them to leave campus, itis very hard to know who issupposed to be leaving andwho isnt. We sat in the FrankFor some reason theystopped in the middleof the parking lot andwent back to their car.They attempted toleave school again, butOfficer Pirowski and Istopped them.Southern North lot and talkedto Officer Thomas until 2:30when I departed from my newsecurity guard friends.Editors Note: The increase insecurity was installed by PrincipalDr. Mike Riggle. He wanted moresecurity due to the renovation andincreasing number of students.For example, a surveillance camerawas moved from the in-schoolsuspension area to the teachersparking lot. Two new securityguards were also hired. Threeguards were on duty per day.mini-magazine 33
